Free Career Education, Placement available through Ready to Work

Educational and career opportunities are available for no cost to eligible northwest Ohio residents through the Ready to Work program.

Administered by WSOS Community Action Commission, Ready to Work program is a comprehensive career education and employment program that offers education, assessment and testing, coaching, support services, and job-placement assistance to participants looking to train for and enter a new career. The program can connect participants to educational programming in advanced manufacturing, environmental services, information technology and healthcare fields.

“Ready to Work can especially benefit those who are looking to move into a new career, but may not possess some of the skills needed by employers in those fields,” said Roger Fisher, WSOS Employment & Training Coordinator. “This program gives participants access to education and other services to make them viable candidates for those careers.”

Ready to Work is open to long-term unemployed, underemployed, veterans and spouses of veterans, and is available to residents of Allen, Auglaize Crawford, Defiance, Fulton, Hardin, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Mercer, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot counties. Career education is offered at partnering colleges including Northwest State Community College, Penta Career Center, Terra State Community College, Vantage Career Center and other nearby higher-learning institutions. Distance learning options are also available.

More than 100 participants enrolled in the Ready to Work program in 2015.
